Force Placement Joins Into The Woods

Into the Woods is excited to welcome Jason James, aka Force Placement, to our resident DJ lineup. Jason is an integral part of the Los Angeles underground community and his versatile background as a DJ and producer embodies the spirit of Into The Woods.

About Jason James

Force Placement is a Los Angeles native who discovered his passion for electronic production at age 12 after hearing tracks by Apex Twin and The Chemical Brothers on KROQ, a local rock radio station. He was drawn to their other-worldly aesthetic and began collecting electronic CDs and tapes. As a teenager he attended drum & bass raves and eventually purchased turntables, turning the basement of his childhood home into a place for sonic experimentation.

After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, Jason was introduced to local DJ phenom Vikas Malhotra aka Kosmik through a mutual friend, and in 2015 they founded The Black Lodge, an LA based event collective and record label known for pushing mutant strains of underground dance music and esoteric electronics to the masses.

Jason is known for his versatile and high energy performances that run the gamut from soulful and cerebral house music to mind-bending acid techno. He also makes harsh noise/experimental electronic music as Nu Sire, and plays in several punk bands. Force Placement has released music on 100% Silk, Private Selection, Clave House, Material Image, Tigerbeat6, Budget Cuts Recordings, Bank NYC, and Lost Soul Enterprises.
